Coronation Street has confirmed a major new twist for Bethany Platt, revealing that she is pregnant following her one-night stand with Kit Green.
The development was revealed in the October 13 episode available on ITVX, with Bethany taking a pregnancy test and discovering the result. The news creates an especially complicated situation because Kit is her mother Sarah’s former partner, while Bethany is currently in a relationship with Ryan Connor.
Bethany faces an impossible secret
The pregnancy adds another layer to an already turbulent period for the Platt family. Sarah is facing serious legal problems, and Bethany is now dealing with guilt over both her relationship and what the revelation could mean for those around her.
Lucy Fallon recently returned to the ITV soap following maternity leave, and the storyline quickly places Bethany back at the center of Weatherfield drama. The identity of the father and the complicated family connections make the pregnancy one of the show’s biggest immediate twists.
Viewers will now be watching to see whether Bethany tells Ryan, Kit or Sarah first, and how the news changes relationships across the Platt family.
