Emmerdale Temporarily Writes Out Mackenzie Boyd as Lawrence Robb Takes Strictly Break

Emmerdale has temporarily written Mackenzie Boyd out of the village as actor Lawrence Robb continues his run on Strictly Come Dancing.

Mackenzie’s exit was explained on screen with the character heading to Germany for an all-expenses-paid course. The storyline gives Robb time away from the ITV soap while he competes on the BBC dance series.

Mackenzie is expected back

Reports indicate that the departure is temporary rather than a permanent exit, with Mackenzie expected to return to Emmerdale in 2027. The unusual crossover opportunity follows ITV relaxing restrictions that previously made appearances on rival broadcasters more difficult for contracted soap stars.

Robb has been competing on Strictly with professional partner Jowita Przystal and has so far remained in the competition. His participation has also received public support from several Emmerdale colleagues.

The temporary absence means Mackenzie will disappear from village storylines for a period, but fans do not need to treat the scenes as a final farewell. His eventual return could create fresh drama depending on how relationships in the village change while he is away.
