David Zaslav is leaving Warner Bros. Discovery with a payout valued at approximately $606.1 million following the completion of Paramount’s acquisition of the company.
According to an SEC filing reported by Variety, the former Warner Bros. Discovery president and CEO received the value of shares and restricted stock units converted as part of the transaction, along with stock options worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
The payout comes as the entertainment industry enters a new era following the closing of the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger on October 6.
A major Hollywood leadership shake-up
Zaslav is not the only senior executive leaving after the deal. Several top Warner Bros. Discovery leaders have also departed as the newly combined company reorganizes its film, television, streaming and corporate operations.
During his tenure, Zaslav oversaw Warner Bros. Discovery through a period of aggressive cost cutting, streaming changes and debt reduction. His compensation repeatedly drew attention, particularly as the company reduced jobs and restructured major parts of its entertainment business.
Paramount begins its new chapter
The merger places Warner Bros.’ film and television assets under the same broader corporate structure as Paramount, creating one of the biggest entertainment combinations in Hollywood.
The leadership transition is expected to have long-term consequences for major franchises, studio strategy and streaming operations. For Zaslav, however, the deal marks the end of more than four years leading Warner Bros. Discovery — and one of the largest exit packages in modern media.
