Blumhouse and Atomic Monster turned New York Comic Con into a major preview of their next wave of horror projects.
The companies’ BlumFest presentation unveiled the first trailer for The Exorcist: Martyrs and delivered updates on a slate that includes new franchise entries and adaptations planned for 2027.
The Exorcist: Martyrs gets its first trailer
Director Mike Flanagan and star Chiwetel Ejiofor presented the first look at The Exorcist: Martyrs, which is scheduled for a U.S. theatrical release on March 12, 2027. The project is one of the most closely watched titles in Blumhouse’s upcoming lineup.
The presentation also included Blumhouse founder Jason Blum and Atomic Monster founder James Wan, with filmmakers and performers discussing projects across film, television, comics and gaming.
More horror projects take shape
Among the announcements was a deal with MatPat to produce films based on independent horror games, beginning with an adaptation of Amanda the Adventurer. The showcase also included updates connected to Paranormal Activity, Blair Witch and other genre properties.
The New York Comic Con presentation reinforced Blumhouse and Atomic Monster’s strategy of combining established horror franchises with newer properties and creators as they build their 2027 release slate.
