Beatles Biopics Producer Explains Plan to Release All Four Movies in 2028

The ambitious plan to release four separate Beatles biopics within the same period in 2028 is designed to create a larger cinematic experience, according to producer Pippa Harris.

Speaking during the BFI London Film Festival, Harris explained the strategy behind Sam Mendes’ four-film project, which will tell the Beatles story from the individual perspectives of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

Four Beatles movies, four points of view

Variety reported on October 13 that the films are expected to arrive during the same month rather than asking audiences to watch all four in a single day. Harris suggested moviegoers might see one film each week or arrange the four titles across several cinema visits.

Each movie is intended to work as a standalone story while also contributing to a larger portrait of the band. Harris said the combined effect is central to the concept.

Who is playing the Beatles?

The four leading roles have already attracted major attention. Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson will portray John Lennon, Joseph Quinn is George Harrison and Barry Keoghan will play Ringo Starr.

Mendes is directing the interconnected project for Sony Pictures Entertainment. Harris revealed that production had reached day 180 by the time of her London Film Festival appearance, underlining the scale of the undertaking.

The unusual release strategy is one of the biggest questions surrounding the project. Four major studio films centered on the same band and arriving in the same period would be unprecedented, but the producers believe the Beatles’ history and the distinct perspective of each member can support the format.

The four-film cinematic event is scheduled for April 2028.
