Dancing With the Stars is preparing for one of Season 35’s most emotional episodes, with the remaining celebrity contestants set to honor important people and influences in their lives during Dedication Night.
The October 20 show will feature 10 couples performing routines built around personal dedications. The theme arrives after Super Bowl Night and gives the cast an opportunity to tell stories that extend beyond scores and competition.
Julia Stiles will honor Heath Ledger
Among the most anticipated performances is Julia Stiles’ contemporary routine with Ezra Sosa. Stiles will honor her late 10 Things I Hate About You co-star Heath Ledger, making the performance one of the night’s most personal Hollywood tributes.
Other contestants will focus on family. Harry Shum Jr. will honor his wife, while Jackson Olson and Jenna Dewan will dedicate their routines to their mothers. Amber Glenn will perform for her sister, Brooke, and Ezra Frech will honor his mother, Bahar.
Maura Higgins celebrates Ireland
Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas are taking a different approach, dedicating their paso doble to Ireland. Their routine adds a cultural tribute to a night otherwise dominated by family and personal relationships.
The episode comes as the competition narrows and the pressure increases on the remaining couples. Dedication Night traditionally gives performers an opportunity to connect emotionally with both the judges and viewers, which can make the leaderboard especially unpredictable.
Season 35 still has several themed episodes ahead, including Horror Movie Night, Disney Night and Grammy Night before the semifinals and finale. Dancing With the Stars airs Tuesdays on ABC and Disney+.
