Selma Blair was arrested after an alleged disturbance aboard a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York, with the actor’s representative saying she experienced a medical emergency and is now in stable condition.
Variety reported on October 13 that the 54-year-old actor was taken into custody after the flight landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport. According to the report, Blair allegedly struck one flight attendant and bit another after trying to open an aircraft door while the plane was in the air. Law enforcement officers met the flight at the gate, and Blair was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Blair’s representative says she is stable
A representative for Blair told Variety that the actor had experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. The statement said she received immediate medical attention after landing and was in stable condition.
The Port Authority confirmed Blair’s identity to the outlet. Variety also reported that the FBI is investigating the incident. Delta said in a statement that it has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior and that customer and crew safety remains its priority.
The flight itself reportedly landed ahead of schedule and the incident did not cause an operational disruption.
A difficult moment for the actor
Blair, known for films including Legally Blonde, Cruel Intentions and Hellboy, has spoken publicly in recent years about her health and her life with multiple sclerosis. The latest incident is being treated as an alleged in-flight disturbance while authorities establish the circumstances.
Her representative’s description of the episode as a medical emergency adds important context, and no final determination about the incident has been announced. The reported injuries to the crew and the federal investigation mean the story may continue to develop.
