Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have each other’s backs on-screen and off.
The two actors visited The Howard Stern Show on Sirius XM on Monday (January 12) to promote their new Netflix movie The Rip and discuss their many years of friendship.

Howard mentioned some of Ben‘s public struggles like his divorces from Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez, plus his troubles with alcohol. Asking Matt, 55, directly, he said, “Could you go to Ben and say, ‘I’m here to help you?’”
“Oh, yeah, our relationship isn’t affected by what people are saying,” The Good Will Hunting star responded. “I was there for all of it.”
Ben also chimed in, adding, “That means a lot to me. That’s sort of what a real friend is.”
Netflix also shared a video of the two stars interviewing each other and explaining the “key” to their friendship, which has spanned more than 40 years.
“We were both obsessed with [making movies and acting] from an early age which definitely kind of linked us up,” Matt noted. “But it’s kind of a weird thing in retrospect, because we came from a city where that wasn’t a thing.”
“The shared interest, like finding the job you like to do and then you do that with your friends, it’s really a nice thing, because you spend so much time at work,” Ben, 53, said.
Their new movie The Rip will premiere on Netflix on January 16. Watch the trailer!
