Christie Brinkley has added a new honor to a career spanning more than five decades, taking part in a handprint ceremony in Cannes while promoting an upcoming documentary about her life.
The 72-year-old supermodel was celebrated during MIPCOM in Cannes, France, on October 12. Her handprints are set to become part of the city’s Chemin des Étoiles, a landmark often compared with the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Brinkley attended the ceremony in a shimmering silver gown and reflected publicly on the long journey that took her from modeling to acting, entrepreneurship and television. The appearance also coincided with attention around Uptown Girl: The Christie Brinkley Story, a documentary series scheduled to premiere on Fox in 2027.
The project is expected to look back at Brinkley’s career as well as the personal experiences behind one of the most recognizable faces of the modern modeling era. The title references her famous connection to Billy Joel’s 1983 Uptown Girl music video, in which she appeared.
Brinkley has also been enjoying a renewed fashion moment. She recently returned to the runway after nearly a decade, walking in Dennis Basso’s Spring/Summer 2027 show during New York Fashion Week. Basso’s collection itself was titled Uptown Girl, creating another link between her past and current projects.
The Cannes ceremony gives Brinkley a permanent place in the city’s entertainment history just as a new documentary prepares to revisit the story behind her public image.
