Kelly Clarkson Escalates Brooklyn Store Feud Over $15,000 Singing Bird

Kelly Clarkson’s dispute with Brooklyn novelty store Art of Play has escalated after the singer challenged the shop’s account of an awkward shopping encounter involving a mechanical singing bird.

The disagreement began when Clarkson said she visited the Brooklyn store and felt she was treated as though she could not afford an item she wanted to buy. She compared the experience to the famous shopping scene in Pretty Woman.

Clarkson disputes the store’s explanation

Art of Play later said the bird, known as Molly, was a one-of-a-kind installation and was not available for sale. Clarkson pushed back publicly, saying she had specifically asked about a price tag for a singing bird and was told it cost $15,000 before being offered something comparable.

The singer then accused the business of being dishonest about what happened. The store has maintained that it welcomes visitors regardless of whether they plan to make a purchase.

The dispute draws major attention

The exchange quickly became a high-profile celebrity-versus-small-business story online, with both sides’ versions of the encounter circulating widely. Clarkson also stressed that she supports small businesses while arguing that customers should still be treated with kindness and respect.

The public back-and-forth remains unresolved, making the unusual $15,000 singing-bird dispute one of the weekend’s most talked-about celebrity stories.
