Blade Runner 2099 Trailer Reveals Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer as Fugitives

Prime Video has unveiled a major new look at Blade Runner 2099, putting Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer at the center of the franchise’s next chapter.

The trailer debuted at New York Comic Con on October 11 and introduces a story set 50 years after Blade Runner 2049. Schafer plays Cora, a fugitive who assumes a final identity as a Blade Runner, while Yeoh stars as Olwen, a Replicant nearing the end of her life. The pair are forced into an uneasy partnership as they pursue a runaway whose secret could threaten the future of Los Angeles.

Blade Runner expands its timeline

The eight-episode limited series continues the world first established by Ridley Scott’s 1982 film and later expanded by Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049. The new series is led by creator and showrunner Silka Luisa, with Scott among the executive producers.

The supporting cast includes Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi. Jonathan van Tulleken directed the first two episodes and also serves as an executive producer.

Yeoh and Schafer give the project two distinctive leads. Yeoh arrives with decades of film and television experience, while Schafer has continued to expand her screen career beyond Euphoria. Their characters’ alliance appears designed to explore familiar Blade Runner questions about identity, memory and what it means to be human.

When will Blade Runner 2099 premiere?

All eight episodes are scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on November 25, 2026. The NYCC trailer is the clearest indication yet of the scale and visual direction of the series.

The announcement was reported by Variety on October 11, 2026. With the franchise moving into episodic television, Blade Runner 2099 is shaping up as one of the most closely watched science-fiction launches of the holiday season.
