Paul Bettany has responded to wife Jennifer Connelly’s playful defense of his Marvel character Vision — and he found her loyalty both funny and touching.
During an appearance on The View, Bettany was shown a clip from Entertainment Weekly’s Comic-Con interview with Connelly. Asked to name the most overrated Marvel character, the Oscar-winning actress carefully avoided the trap and made clear that she remained fond of Vision.

Bettany joked that his wife’s defense was surprisingly enthusiastic, but the moment clearly amused him. The couple have been married since 2003 after meeting while working on A Beautiful Mind.
The actor also revealed that his own children are less protective of his superhero reputation. He said they once labeled him “The Worst Avenger” on their Disney+ profile, turning his Marvel status into a family joke.
Vision returns in VisionQuest
The timing is fitting because Bettany is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in VisionQuest. The series follows his Emmy-nominated work in WandaVision and puts Vision back at the center of a story exploring identity and purpose.
Bettany has played versions of the character across multiple Marvel projects, evolving from the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S. into the fully realized Vision.
A long Hollywood partnership
Bettany and Connelly have largely kept their marriage away from celebrity drama despite both maintaining major acting careers. They have also worked together beyond A Beautiful Mind, including the film Shelter.
Connelly’s refusal to criticize Vision offered a rare public glimpse at their relationship — while Bettany’s response showed he is comfortable laughing at his superhero alter ego as he prepares to play him again.
