The Fast & Furious franchise is officially expanding into live-action television, with Peacock ordering a scripted series and targeting a 2028 premiere.
Vin Diesel, the longtime face of the movie franchise, is attached as an executive producer. The project marks the first live-action television series built around the blockbuster car-action universe.
Who is making the Fast & Furious TV series?
Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman will serve as co-showrunners, pilot writers and executive producers. Daniels has credits including Sons of Anarchy and Shades of Blue, while Coleman has worked on 9-1-1: Lone Star.
Other executive producers include key figures with long histories in the film franchise, including Neal H. Moritz and Chris Morgan. Universal Television is involved in the production.
Will movie characters appear?
Plot details are still being kept under wraps, and it has not yet been confirmed whether familiar movie characters will appear on screen. Diesel’s role announced so far is behind the scenes as an executive producer.
The targeted 2028 launch places the television expansion at an important moment for the franchise. After years of theatrical sequels and spin-offs, the Peacock series could create a longer-form way to explore the world of street racing, heists and family that has defined Fast & Furious.
